Froelich Engineers is very excited to be working on the structural engineering for the historic Laurelhurst Mann House.
Established in 1911, the Mann House was named after humanitarian Anna Lewis Mann, who originally led the project, and was created as an “old folks home” for those who lived in the neighborhood. The Mann House existed for this purpose until the 1980s when it was purchased by the Movement Center for use as a meditation, yoga, event, and group living facility.
Today, the Mann House is being redeveloped as affordable rental apartments by Innovative Housing, Inc. in collaboration with Emerick Architects, and of course, Froelich Engineers. We will be working hard to provide seismic renovation to this unreinforced masonry (URM) building, ensuring that its legacy as beautiful community housing in one of Portland’s most desirable neighborhoods carries on.
