Jolene’s First Cousin offers an innovative approach to Portland’s housing crisis. The twin two-story buildings occupy a single lot in the heart of Portland’s Creston-Kenilworth neighborhood. They feature a total of six units: three retail spaces, two lofts at market rate, and a single resident occupancy (SRO) arrangement with 11 rooms. The 100-square-foot SRO rooms share amenities including a fully outfitted kitchen, living and dining rooms, a private landscaped courtyard, showers, toilets, and laundry facilities. Each room has its own bed, closet, and sink. Froelich provided conceptual civil engineering design plans of this project in order to secure permits from Portland’s Bureau Transportation (PBOT).
