Our clients Baysinger Partners Architecture recently asked us to join their team working on the Mission Ridge Plaza strip mall in Manteca, California. We were excited at the opportunity to work on this interesting project in the Central Valley of California.
The original scope for this project was to bring the site into ADA conformance and put together repairs for a set of columns along 750 linear feet of strip mall storefronts. When we got there to take a look at the structure, it soon became clear that these columns had seen better days. Many of the columns were found to have extensive rotting, and their structural integrity was entirely compromised. Suffice to say, our structural team got there just in time to save this building.
Ultimately, we replaced the timber towers and colonnades with new steel towers and timber framing. Not only will the new structure look good, but it should be able to withstand the elements for years to come – keeping this building standing and visitors safe.
Our civil department designed upgrades for the entire site, including adding ramps to bring the center into compliance with the ADA.
